About the Copiague Maplecourt Weather Station Model

The CMWS Model is a computer program, currently written in python that compiles model runs of the Operational GFS and NAM computer model outputs by NOAA. The computer model outputs are inserted into a DBMS (PostgreSQL and MySQL ) and then used by the CMWS Model to use as input data to produce a numerical forecast.

The CMWS Model uses statistical forecasting by using the numerical outputs from the GFS and NAM computer models to predict the future weather conditions by identifying trends, patterns and propriety logic within the data to develop a forecast. This method uses mathematical formulas to identify the patterns and trends while testing the result for mathematical reasonableness and confidence.

Major user interface overhaul was released in version 2.2. The CMWS Model now has included other cities for user selection. It is executed every hour, but new data is received at 06Z, 12Z, 18Z and 00Z intervals.
